Flood Watch Issued for Northeastern PA, NY
The Lackawanna County Emergency Management Office in Scranton, Pennsylvania reported that several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to move through the area on Thursday, July 31. The heaviest rainfall is forecast from early afternoon through the evening hours with average totals of 1 to 3 inches and isolated amounts up to 5 inches across northeastern Pennsylvania and the western portions of the Catskills. The southern tier of New York is expected to see lighter rainfall amounts ranging from ½ to 1 inch. A flood watch has been issued in areas that may receive several inches of rain from repeated rounds of showers. The forecast also indicates that if the track of the system shifts slightly to the northwest, rainfall totals may increase, with lower totals expected further southeast.
