Charles E. "Charley" Houghtaling, Jr., a long-time resident of Albany County, passed away last week, according to the Albany County Legislature. Houghtaling lived in Feura Bush for over 70 years and was a lifetime member of the Onesquethaw Volunteer Fire Department. He operated Houghtaling’s Market for many years and served on the Albany County Soil and Water Board for 25 years. His service to the community also included 27 years on the Albany County Legislature, where he spent 16 years as its Chair. Houghtaling was one of the original members of the Steering Committee for the project to update and expand the Albany County International Airport.
