The Geneva Public Library in Geneva, NY, will be closed on Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. The holiday marks the anniversary of the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. The library will resume its regular operating hours on Friday, June 20.
