Staff Report / Albanylocal.org

An art exhibition titled “Untitled: Art from Behind Bars” will open at the Washington Ave. Branch of the Albany Public Library on Thursday, October 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. This event celebrates the 13th Annual Celebration of National Pro Bono Week hosted by Prisoners' Legal Services of New York (PLS).

The exhibition features 42 pieces created by 28 artists who are currently incarcerated in New York state prisons, with contributions coming from 18 correctional facilities, including Attica, Auburn, Elmira, Franklin, Sullivan, Fishkill, and Sing Sing.

The exhibit will be on display for two months, concluding on December 19. In addition to the opening reception, the gallery will have limited open hours during this period. Further details about the open gallery hours can be found on the Albany Public Library’s event calendar.

This exhibition aims to highlight the creativity of the artists and share their experiences through their artwork. Admission is free and open to all ages.
