Community Center Celebrates AAPI Heritage Month with Albany Visit.

Apna Brooklyn Community Center in Brooklyn, New York marked #AAPIHeritageMonth with a visit to Albany on May 21. The team was there to observe the passage of the AAPI resolution. They toured the capitol building and met with State Senator Iwen Chu to discuss uplifting their community. The CEO, Erum Hanif, was honored with an AAPI Leadership Award. The experience provided an opportunity for the team to engage with state legislators and representatives of the AAPI community. It was a celebration of democracy and a chance for the community center to advocate on behalf of their community.

GIAC Registered for Ithaca's 10th Give a Chance Lottery

GIAC has been registered for Ithaca’s 10th annual Give a Chance Lottery and is urging supporters to vote daily from March 1 through March 31, as the Solomon Organization hosts the 11th annual Give a Chance Charitable Event with top prizes of $5,000, $2,000 and $1,000 and a Feb. 28 deadline for 501(c)(3) charities in the Ithaca area to enter.

Buffalo's budget plan shocks peers, nets $40 million

Buffalo Mayor Sean M. Ryan said other mayors and comptrollers are shocked by how the city has operated fiscally, noting a decade of declining revenues and rising expenses, that $40 million from New York State will close the budget gap, and that structural fixes will begin with the first budget later this year.
